The arrival of the Iranian delegation was achieved thanks to the significant help of the Consul of the Republic of Poland in Tehran, Mr. Peter Bakłażec, who very supports development of Karate Tsunami in Iran and Polish-Iranian sports relations, and also the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Iran.

The previous two such trainings took place:

  • 22-23 September 2009,
  • 4 December 2009.

Reports from those trainings there are in the articles:

  • Iran: the first Karate Tsunami training in Honbu Dojo for a group of ten Iranian instructors
  • Iran: the second Karate Tsunami training in Honbu Dojo for a group of six Iranian instructors

That training took place on the initiative of the Iranian side, which contacted with the Board Honbu Renmei Karate Tsunami Federation to develop Karate Tsunami in Iran.

According to declaration of representatives of the Iranian side, they previously did careful insight into the scope of various styles practiced all over the world and decided themselves to choice exactly Karate Tsunami.

At this opportunity it’s worth underline, that representatives of the Iranian side in that range have deep insight into, because they stay at all kinds of sports events in many countries on different continents, among others: in the USA, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, Netherlands, South Korea or Austria.

On Renmei - Federation’s side this contact takes care Vice-president of Federation shihan Vladimir Parfieniuk 7 dan, who lives in Zurich (Switzerland), responsible for coordinating Tsunami development in various countries. Because of this he specially came also for this schooling from Zurich to Warsaw, to run it.

 Iran

In this place it is well to mark that in Iran live 70 million inhabitants, and its capital city-Tehran is a large metropolis with 10 million inhabitants. Next the Persian language

and writing still use several dozen million persons living

in neighboring countries, specially in Pakistan

 and Afghanistan.

Iran

The main aim of the current training was to familiarize visitors from Iran with the basic training methods of Karate Tsunami.

The first part of the training was to familiarize sportsmen from Iran with warm-up (junbin-taiso) carried out on Tsunami Karate trainings. The rules for that warm-up set up in 1979, the founder of this style soke Richard Murat 10 dan, and it is based on his experience and modern scientific basis.

Warm-up not only prepares the body to the intense training in the main part, but it can be used as an independent training all-developmental to raise health and fitness. Warm-up was presented in outline in the book of Richard Murat - bestseller "Karate for Beginners and Advanced".

Warm-up with visitors from Iran, under the direction of soke Richard Murat 10 dan run
kyoshi Daniel Bogusz 5 dan (Łowicz) - PE teacher by education. The rules for this warm-up

discussed shihan Vladimir Parfieniuk 7 dan, and Fariba Abbasgholi Asbaghi Nejad

was translating from English into Persian.

        Iran

The important part of warm-up in Karate Tsunami are stretching exercises. In Tsunami

there are used complete set of stretching exercises, in various variants and options.

Then soke Richard Murat 10 dan discussed one of the basic training method used in Karate Tsunami: makiwara-kumite.

Iran

Soke Richard Murat 10 dan explains the principles of makiwara-kumite.

Into Karate Tsunami soke Richard Murat 10 dan introduced three basic variants makiwara-kumite:

  • basic variant – to practice of single techniques (waza) and combinations (renraku-waza),
  • advanced variant - to practice going off a line of attack and also counterattacks,
  • masterly variant - to practice fighting with the aggressor, which represents a bag.

The third of these options was used during Karate Tsunami Championships as a sports event. Thanks to this, persons preparing for this event naturally raise their level of preparation to the real fight.

After the show makiwara-kumite, which presented kyoshi Daniel Bogusz 5 dan and shihan Vladimir Parfieniuk 7 dan, this method one by one tried all visitors from Iran. In the photographs below you can see two of them.

Later, Richard Murat soke 10 dan discussed another method of training, which he introduced to Karate Tsunami: tokui-kata (own form, spontaneous form).

This is the form of learning against several attackers, which consists of spontaneous (not planned), presentation of fight in various situations. In Tsunami it is used without objects and with objects.

Soke Richard Murat 10 dan explained to those present, that in Karate Tsunami are used all objects, which can be used in fight with assailants, especially nobody knows, which objects the attackers will use and in which situation comes to fight.

Taking into consideration the usefulness of this method, tokui-kata is used as a sports event in Karate Tsunami Championships. However, in this case a person taking part in that event demonstrates that form with chosen by himself/herself objects, which they use in situation of an imaginable aggression.

During the presented training were practiced tokui-kata with a few selected objects:

  • one knife and two knives (tanto)
  • tonfa (multi-functional baton with a side handle)
  • bo (a long stick)
  • hanbo (a short stick and two short sticks)
  • nunchaku (a short flail)
  • kama (a sickle).

At first kyoshi Daniel Bogusz 5 dan demonstrated tokui-kata with a given device and then one by one trained the form sportsmen from Iran, and those shows ended shihan Vladimir Parfieniuk 7 dan with his own form.

      Iran

The shows of wielding of various objects (here tonfa - an instrument used specially
by the police and other services) presented by shihan Vladimir Parfieniuk 7 dan
made the great impression on the present persons. After watching his shows a normal

person comes to the conclusion, that is better do not attack that master on the street.

Iran

Shihan, Vladimir Parfieniuk 7 dan demonstrates tokui kata with use of hanbo (a short stick, a club,

a mace). Here you see the instrument with the characteristic shape especially used abroad of eastern Poland, in Ukraine and in Belarus (also by local tsunamists there) and that instrument brought

to Honbu Dojo from Ukraine veterinarian Peter Chodorek (the winner of several gold medals

at the last Polish Championships Karate Tsunami - Warsaw 2010).

         Iran

presented by kyoshi Daniel Bogusz 5 dan.

Iran

Also Iranians showed great range  in wielding of various objects,
in this photograph there are two short sticks (tokui-morote-hanbo-kata).

        Iran

Soke Richard Murat 10 dan explains the principle of using a long stick (bo) in fighting in Karate Tsunami.

Iran

Then, as usual, tokui-bo-kata practiced one by one present sportsmen from Iran.

         Iran

Later, Richard Murat soke 10 dan – presented use of a sickle (an example of the historic sickle used

by his ancestors), a popular gardening tool as the object in fight. His explanation applauded by those present, that the sickle has characteristics of a machine in contrast to the knife, which is a simple tool.

Iran

Then show of fight with sickle presented Shihan Vladimir Parfieniuk 7 dan
demonstrating exceptional proficiency and efficiency in this regard. Among the guests

arrived from Iran only one visible person in this photograph, tried practice with a sickle.
After consultations as it turned out that in Iran are also used  such tools in gardening.

Then soke Richard Murat 10 dan presented for sportsmen from Iran, another Karate Tsunami training method: full-contact-kumite.

In this method, two opponents fight with each other in a special’’ tsunami armors’’ which protect almost the whole body. In this way they can use all the techniques (with blows using elbows, knees and the head - which prohibited in championships of the most styles), to all spots of the opponent's body (including the genitals - which is also prohibited in other styles) and with full power. It can be used not only strikes, but any other techniques, for example: throws, levers and strangles.

Fighting this is not stopped, but it is run just like on the street, standing still and even when one or both opponents fall down. Therefore, this method is most similar to the real run, run on the street.

In Karate Tsunami, it was also used as a sports event during championships. Fighting in this competition, in which start only few persons, always stir up emotions of fans.

Iran

A lot emotions stirred up the fight in this formula, full-contact-kumite between two sportsmen

from Iran, though soke Richard Murat 10 dan made them not to hit each other
with full power because, because they are not on championships.

Iran

In order to familiarize with this sports event, it was made with the whole ceremony,

used during championships, with the ceremonial announcement the result of the fight

by rising up a hand of the winner.

Iran

After several hours of training those present persons were already very tired, but satisfied with its results.

Iranian guests agreed, that they were surprised by the high level of Karate Tsunami solutions and the great effectiveness of techniques and Tsunami solutions presented during the sparring. It confirmed them in the accuracy of their choice.

The whole training was quite untypical, because all statements were interpreted from Persian into English, and then into Polish and from Polish into English, and then into Persian.

In this way began Tsunami development in the next country - Iran.

Soon for similar schooling and exams will come the next group of Iranian instructors.

This fact needs to be emphasized, that Iran is a country of huge possibilities not only because of large territory and the great number of inhabitants, but also very rich culture and the great significance of this country both in its region, and in all over the world. Because of Iran cultural-religious and political determinants Iran is also the country very much closed to any pressures and outside influences, and its inhabitants are famous of  their pride and feeling of dignity.

In the end it is worth to inform, that Karate Tsunami is practiced by a lot persons from the Muslim culture, specially from various countries of Asia and Africa. Their profiles gradually will be presented in our Tsunamists’ Gallery.

By the way, it’s worth to praise, that, soke Richard Murat 10 dan is the only Polish master, to whom arrive delegations from the whole world to practice, to raise their level and pass exams for degrees. In order to do that, arrive to Honbu Dojo in Warsaw even masters from Asia, recognized as the cradle of martial arts.

Only in the last days soke Richard Murat 10 dan examined to master’s degrees for foreigners from Iran (whom are mentioned above) and also for master Nguyen Ngoc Tien from Vietnam – for the degree 7 dan. The report from this exam we present in the article: The exam for the degree  7 dan of master Nguyen Ngoc Tien from the style vinh xuan from Vietnam.

These irrefutable facts bear testimony to the high level of martial arts in Poland and the great recognition of soke Richard Murat 10 dan on variuos continents, also in Asia.
